The Institute of Marine Science (IMS) brings together the wide range of expertise and facilities at The University of Auckland to work towards improving our understanding of the marine environment.

The Goat Island Marine Discovery Centre educates visitors about the marine environment and the research activities of the Institute of Marine Science at the University of Auckland.  The interactive displays are great fun and provide a wealth of information about the marine environment.

NIWA’s science services are delivered by our thirteen National Centres. Each centre conducts a raft of research contributing to a high level outcome for New Zealand.
